I want to hear back from as many of you as want to reply to this survey question:
Just above the wrists and just above the ankles, do you have swollen "bumps" that burn and hurt like a fresh bruise when you push lightly on them?
This blog is NOT ABOUT fad diets, liposuction, compression or surgery. I am not a doctor. The average doctors don't even know what lipidema is. So I will share what I've learned from experience and from decades of research to give hope to those who feel hopeless and see if we can cure the supposedly "incurable".

Body Wraps? Compression Garments? Is there any long-term effect from these?
Whatever compression happens around my ankles makes an obvious difference. I can definitely see where the elastic from my socks or from a compression bandage have reduced the size of the area. But it only lasts an hour or so once the compression is removed. So did they do any actual good? If the swelling just returns, it obviously didn't address the source of the problem. Is there any kind of compression that actually lasts once the compressor is removed?

Vibration Platform? Rocking Chairs? Infrared Saunas?
I recently got to interview a naturopath who gave me some insight on lymphatic drainage. She told me that when the body starts to exercise to the point of deep breathing, the lymph system shuts down. Rather than brisk or weighty movements, our lymphs require gentle, small, calm movements. A rocking chair, a leisurely turn on an exercise bike while reading a book, just bouncing your heels alone on a trampoline instead of jumping full-bodied, or even just jiggling your legs on the floor before you completely climb out of bed in the morning are all sufficient to increase lymph flow. She also recommended skin brushing and near infrared saunas as good lymph stimulators. (No steam saunas.) And vibration platforms also actually do the trick.
I didn't know. Did you?
Comfort Foods and Ketogenic Diet.......Is that an Oxymoron?
I have been following a very strict diet in order to regain my
health. GMOs, heavy metal and chemical pollutants, radiation,
parasites, yeast infections.......you name it, I was affected by it.
And they all took a toll on my physical well-being. So my diet has been
largely ketogenic, and for the first time in 20 years I have been able
to start to heal and to lose weight.
However, there is an emotional component to healing. I find that eating foods I like actually increases my level of adrenaline. Associating with comforting sounds, objects and even meals helps me ground myself, and again my adrenal levels go up. When my diet is harshly restricted to where I am not eating anything comforting or emotionally warming, my adrenal energy levels sag. I find that I have to create versions of my comfort foods that stay within the boundaries of my diet. Easier said than done.......? Yes. But worth it.

Taking a Worldwide Survey. Please respond this week.
For more information, visit facebook site: bereadytobewell also Be Ready To Be Well
Please friend us and like us on Be Ready To Be Well on facebook. I am going to try to get some answers to our health questions from you as I take a survey around the world each week. My readers are in 92 different countries, but we all suffer from similar pains and ailments. I am looking for common connections so that we can start to find better answers to our health questions.
This week's survey:
Take your temperature with a thermometer under your tongue when you wake up, when you go to bed and in the middle of the night. Make a chart for 1 week, checking daily. Do you notice a temperature fluctuation?
For me, my temperature drops significantly during the night to 95 degrees Farenheit (3.6 degrees too low). My waking up temperature (basal temp) is 2 degrees too low, and my bedtime temp is 1 degree lower than the normal temp of 98.6.
I would like to know if anyone besides me is experiencing these abnormally low body temperatures. Please let me hear from you!

I've actually been losing weight and diminishing pain with the Ketogenic diet
I've noticed a big difference in my ability to lose weight when I'm eating a high fat-low carb diet, using meat proteins as the base. It sounds counter-intuitive that if you eat fats you'll lose fat, but it actually works. I'm detoxing from heavy metals and chemicals in my system as well. My ankles and wrists no longer puff out. My ring size and pants size have gone down. I can wear shoes that were too tight a few months ago. When I started reintroducing fruit and nuts into my diet, I stopped losing weight, so I'm concentrating on meats again. Prior to that I lost an average of 2 lbs per week, even though I was told for 20 years I would NEVER be able to lose weight.
And for 20 years, no matter what I did, they were right. But putting myself in the hands of a superior functional medicine doctor in Salt Lake City Utah, has most likely saved me from an early death by heart attack or stroke. He is the one who is determining my diet, step by step, and directing my detoxification at a slow pace that my body can handle. Perhaps there is something about this diet for you to try.

100,000 page reads in 90 countries. Lipidema is a Worldwide Concern
Is Lipidema a result of ongoing chemical and metal toxicity?
I have been doing a lot of detoxing for the past few months under the care of a truly remarkable doctor, and by releasing chemicals and heavy metals, and killing off yeast and parasite infections, I have actually lost over 30 pounds, despite what previous doctors told me about not ever EVER EVER being able to lose weight.
This water filter bottle removes at least 118 chemicals, viruses, bacteria, etc., from our drinking water. I'm using it to keep from putting all that junk back into my system every day. Why should I detox just to retox?!
So I keep my drinking water pure by running it through the Sagan water filter bottle.

Aloha to all you dieters like myself
I spent my Christmas and New Years holiday time with three of my
children and their families in Hawaii this year. We are very blessed to
have family and business here so that we get to mingle very closely with
those who have spent their lives on these beautiful islands. Hawaiian,
Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Portuguese, Korean, Samoan, Tongan,
Tahitian, Caucasian........they're all in our in-law and family mix. So
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners were a real treat, as well as
New Years Eve and New Years Day, not to mention the potluck for
preschool's holiday program, the backyard barbecues and other
invitations to dinner, or just eating out while on the road.
How is it possible to stick to a strict diet in these conditions, where every meal is a cultural treat? How do you politely refuse to taste a delicious entree, only because it has starches or sugary sauces or grains or dairy? How do you avoid offense and maintain the diet?
I did pretty well, I think. Politely interested and even empathetically concerned, these Hawaiian locals were very gracious. I know they pitied me because I couldn't share in the cultural and culinary treats and decided that they'd rather die young and happy rather than older and deprived. And our choices for outings became very limited when they couldn't involve meals.
But after 3 weeks I feel I can face my doctor with my head held high. My big "splurge" in all that time was some shaved ice without ice cream, and that was a conscious decision because it really felt "wrong" to turn my back on absolutely every treat we've always enjoyed together here as a family.
It's a decision I don't regret. Sometimes we do ourselves a disservice by being so focused on our physical self that we forget how important the social and emotional connections are, and we can miss precious opportunities to experience those.
So Aloha to all of you. Maintain balance in your relationship with food, doctors, family, traditions and friends. I hope the New Year is good to all of you, my readers in many countries.
